terus terang saya rada ga percaya ama produk teh ijo dalam kemasan botolan itu (sama halnya vitamin C dalam produk larutan). EGCG antioksidan yang sangat kuat, mudah banget rusak karena pengaruh udara. air sendiri adalah media reaksi. jadi dalam bentuk larutan dalam jangka waktu lama kadar EGCG bisa menurun drastis bahkan bisa sampe abis. mungkin pengusiran O2 dalam air yang digunakan dalam mengekstraksi ato dalam botol selama pengisian bisa membantu tapi sampe sejauh mana efektifitasnya?

teh merah? rasa? ini teh merah dari daun teh (Camellia sinensis) ato bunga rosela (Hibiscus sabdariffa)? soalnya rasa teh merah dari daun teh sama aja dng teh item. kalo dari bunga rosela rasanya asam, tapi kalo ditambah gula dan pake es suegerrr banget.

Maaf sebelumnya saya masih newby, mau nanyak nih, jadi yang dijual dipasaran sekarang merk teh yang mana agak lumayan baguas ya?karena saya lihat sangat banyak beragam merk yang sudah tersebar di indonesia ini.

ga enak kalo nyebutin mereknya langsung... teh ijo dari warna daunnya uda ijo. kalo diseduh warnanya kuning kehijauan. kalo sampe warna seduhan berwarna kemerahan itu perlu diragukan. kemungkinan teh item ato kalo ngakunya teh ijo berarti kualitasnya kurang bagus.

Green Tea Ingredient Blocks HIV Infection

May 19, 2009 — Green tea may be the key to effective anti- HIV vaginal gels, new studies suggest.

Triggering the new studies was the recent finding that semen contains a factor -- dubbed semen-derived enhancer of virus infection (SEVI) -- that escorts HIV to the front door of the cells it likes to infect.

SEVI is a beta-amyloid fibril formed from a prostate protein common in semen. Other beta-amyloids are implicated in neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Among the compounds that fight beta-amyloid formation is EGCG -- a highly studied molecule from green tea.

Might green tea block SEVI and fight HIV infection? Yes, find researchers Ilona Hauber, PhD, of the Heinrich-Pette Institute for Experimental Virology and Immunology in Hamburg, Germany, and colleagues.

In lab studies, Hauber and colleagues showed that EGCG degraded fibrils formed from prostate peptides and stopped semen from enhancing HIV infection. The green-tea molecule did not harm human cells.

One of the Holy Grails of AIDS research has been the search for a vaginal gel that women could use to protect themselves from HIV infection during sex. Such a gel would have to cause no irritation, and the active ingredients must thrive in the acidic vaginal environment.

EGCG is stable in acidic environments, so Hauber and colleagues suggest that it would be an important addition to anti-HIV vaginal gels, possibly in combination with an anti-HIV drug.

Moreover, the researchers note, EGCG appears to have some anti-HIV activity of its own.

"EGCG, a natural ingredient of green tea, may be a valuable and cost-efficient inhibitor of semen-mediated enhancement of virus infection, and hence of sexual transmission of HIV," they conclude.

The findings appear in the online early edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Green Tea Drinking in Elderly Linked to Lower Risk for Depression

December 29, 2009 — More frequent consumption of green tea is associated with a lower prevalence of depressive symptoms in the community-dwelling older population, according to the results of a cross-sectional study reported in the December issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

"Green tea is reported to have various beneficial effects (e.g., anti–stress response and anti-inflammatory effects) on human health," write Hideko Takahashi, from Tohoku University Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering in Sendai, Japan, and colleagues. "Although these functions might be associated with the development and progression of depressive symptoms, no studies have investigated the relation between green tea consumption and depressive symptoms in a community-dwelling population."

The objective of the study was to evaluate the association between green tea drinking and depressive symptoms in 1058, community-dwelling, elderly Japanese subjects 70 years or older who widely consumed green tea. A self-administered questionnaire was used to determine green tea intake. The 30-item Geriatric Depression Scale was used to evaluate depressive symptoms, with a cutoff point of 11 indicating mild and severe depressive symptoms and a cutoff value of 14 indicating severe depressive symptoms. Antidepressant use was also considered to indicate depressive symptoms.

In this cohort, 34.1% had mild and severe depressive symptoms, and 20.2% had severe depressive symptoms. Compared with green tea consumption of 1 or less cup per day, odds ratios for mild and severe depressive symptoms were 0.96 for 2 to 3 cups (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.66 - 1.42) and 0.56 for 4 or more cups of green tea per day (95% CI, 0.39 - 0.81; P for trend = .001), after adjustment for confounding factors. Similar associations were seen for severe depressive symptoms.

"A more frequent consumption of green tea was associated with a lower prevalence of depressive symptoms in the community-dwelling older population," the study authors write.

Limitations of this study include cross-sectional design, preventing causal inferences; possible confounding factors; and lack of data on other psychiatric conditions, symptoms, or treatments. In addition, participants were more active and healthy than those who did not undergo the assessment, and the Geriatric Depression Scale is not designed for making a clinical diagnosis of depressive episodes.

"In the present study, higher green tea consumption (as measured by self-administered questionnaires) was significantly associated with a lower prevalence of depressive symptoms in community-dwelling elderly individuals," the study authors conclude. "This finding suggested that the consumption of green tea may have a potentially beneficial effect on the prevention of depressive symptoms. A prospective study or randomized trials are required to clarify the causality."

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan; the Japan Atherosclerosis Prevention Fund; and the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare of Japan supported this study. The study authors have disclosed no relevant financial relationships.

Maaf ya ikut gabung, sekedar menambah info saja.
Saya sudah lama mengonsumsi teh hijau, dan biasa beli dari supermarket. kemarin saya iseng-iseng cari teh tradisional di google. Key yang saya gunakan adalah "jual teh hijau trdisional". Tak disangka, saya menemukan blog yang menjual teh tersebut. Padahal dari dulu saya menggunakan key tersebut, tapi baru sekarang mendapatkannya. Akhirnya saya coba pesan, harganyapun cukup murah. Setelah barang saya terima dan saya coba, ternyata rasanya sangat enak, dan terasa lebih alami, meskipun tidak ada merknya. Sekarang, teh hijau ini yang selalu saya konsumsi. Harganya lebih murah, namun rasanya sebanding dengan teh hijau yang bermerk dan lebih mahal. Bahkan, saya berani bilang rasa teh ini sebanding dengan salah satu teh import favorit saya.

Kalau setelah minum teh hijau, lalu terasa pusing, itu artinya apa ya? Apa karena ada kecenderungan anemia? Tapi nggak semua teh hijau sih.. Ada yang bikin pusing, ada juga yang enggak..
