of the duration of one year within the Marie Curie EST network on “Biomimetic Systems” are available in the Department of Bioengineering at the Politecnico di Milano University, Italy, under the supervision of Prof. A. Redaelli. The experimental projects are concerned with

Cardiovascular Tissue engineering <.B>â€" The aim is to identify and standardize all the experimental procedures needed to obtain valvular substitutes in advanced culture systems from valvular homografts recellularized with stem cells.

Molecular motors mechanics â€" The aim is the investigation of the affinity between the myosin head and the actin filament during the working stroke through molecular dynamics.

Tendon Proteglycans mechanics <.B>- The aim is the investigation of the stress transfer between contiguous fibrils constituting the tendon by means of molecular dynamics. In particular the project is focused on the PGs network characterisation and on the role of PGs in tendon remodelling.

Candidates should have a background in engineering, physics, biophysics or chemistry and an interest in biological topics.

The projects will start on April 1st, 2007 or as soon as possible after this date. Application deadline is March 31, 2007.
